Aviv Kinel creates beautiful handcrafted jewelry using natural materials such as quartz, wood, and cotton.
She sees each piece as a wearable work of art.
Aviv was born and raised in Israel, in a small village called Binyamina. Upon graduating from Shenkar College where she studied jewelry design, she moved to Tel Aviv and opened an independent studio (which was really just her living room). Aviv then began to sell her work in local shops.
Fast-forward a few years and now Aviv’s jewelry is sold in boutiques and galleries worldwide.
Aviv uses traditional silversmithing with a manual weaving of cotton threads. “It’s a slow process,” she told me, “and the beauty of it is that you can feel my hand on each piece. They all have ‘life’ in them.”
Design for Aviv is a way of expression, a language that allows her to communicate, express feeling, and touch people.
She is inspired by nature, traditional handcrafts, and places and objects that technology has not reached.
Aviv sells her jewelry in her Etsy Shop, at the Jewish Museum New York Gift Shop and on her website, Aviv Kinel.
