I always look forward to the new version of the Asufa Haggadah. Each year, the best Israeli graphic designers, typographers and illustrators come together to create this beautiful Haggadah. Each artist is given one full page and complete freedom to design an illustration inspired by standard Haggadah text.
The project began in 2013 by Lior Yamin, one of the founders of Asufa–a gallery and shop in Jaffa that celebrates Israeli design. The Asufa Haggadah was originally just an independent cultural experiment but has now evolved into a wonderful annual tradition. Over 180 illustrators and designers have been featured in total.
An additional bilingual Asufa Haggadah, written in both Hebrew and English, is available for the first time this year for Jewish communities around the world.
This year’s version will also showcase the best illustrations from the three previous editions and is printed in a larger format.
The Asufa Haggadah is a lovely holiday gift for all ages. For those who appreciate art, it offers an opportunity to get to know young and promising Israeli artists, and for those celebrating the seder, it offers a kosher Haggadah that gives a modern look to the thousand-year-old story.
